Founded by Emily and Travis Moon in the summer of 2011, The Apollo Center began with a simple dream: to create a welcoming artistic home where people of all ages could discover a passion for aerial arts, dance, and circus while becoming part of a creative and supportive community.

The organization's journey began with the launch of Iluminar Aerial, our professional aerial dance and circus company and the first company established under the Apollo umbrella. Originally operating out of a local gymnastics facility on weekends and evenings, Iluminar quickly grew into a thriving training and performance program. As student enrollment expanded, the organization moved into its first dedicated facility in August 2013, laying the foundation for what would become The Apollo Center.

Today, The Apollo Center has grown into a 10,000-square-foot performing arts facility offering recreational classes, youth and adult training programs, performance companies, camps, workshops, and original productions. From first-time students to professional performers, we provide opportunities for artists of all ages to learn, create, and perform while fostering confidence, creativity, and lifelong friendships.

Throughout the year, our companies present original aerial dance and circus productions that combine aerial arts, dance, theater, music, and storytelling. These performances showcase the incredible talent of our youth, emerging artists, adult performers, and professional company while celebrating the artistry and innovation that define our organization.

The name Apollo holds special meaning for our family. It honors Apollo 11, the first successful mission to land humans on the moon, and commemorates 2011, the year our company was founded. In Greek mythology, Apollo is the god of music, dance, poetry, and the arts—a fitting symbol for a place dedicated to creativity, performance, and inspiring others to reach new heights.
